Coast to Coast Road trip

Its been long time since I wanted to do a road trip coast to coast. I thought to doing it when I was moving from Chicago to SF, but couldn't. Since then this was always in the to-do list. During Christmas last year me and my brother decided to drive to east coast from SF, a total distance of 2476 miles that's like 3985 kms, almost like driving from Kanyakumari to Srinagar in J&K and coming back to Punjab border. Once decided there were lots of things to plan out, number of days we can spare, pit stops, things to carry, places to visit en-route, daily target etc etc. Before doing any of these things I was always thinking about car to drive and booked a rental car, it was Mustang GT and convertible; the American muscle car. The next thing was the planning.

Plan:

4 days, 12/22 - 12/25, 9 states en-route : California -> Arizona -> New Mexico -> Texas -> Oklahoma -> Arkansas -> Mississippi -> Alabama -> Georgia. mainly on i-40 highway
Daily targets
Day1 : Flagstaff, Arizona
travel distance : 728 miles
Day2 : Amarillo, Texas
travel distance : 608 miles
Day3 : Memphis, Tennessee
travel distance : 724 miles
Day4 : Alpharetta, Georgia
travel distance : 416 miles

Actual targets met:
Day1 : Needles, California
traveled distance : 574 miles
Reached at 2:00 AM. On day one itself we were like 150 miles behind the target. We had a hard deadline to reach on 12/25 as my brother had office the next day. This place was right on the border of California and Arizona, also it was the border of a timezone shift also. In the room we were in if we move from door to window the time was changing. It was quite an experience.
Day2 : Amarillo, Texas :
traveled distance : 811 miles
Started the day at 10 in the morning and reached the destination at midnight. We were behind the target on day1, so we had to drive around 150 miles more than the actual planned distance.
Day3 : Memphis, Tennessee
traveled distance : 740 miles
Started the day at around 10 in the morning and reached the destination at around 11 in the night. We were right on target. The weather was beautiful to drive and i was pulled over in texas for speeding which was another experience I had.
Day4 :  Alpharetta, Georgia
traveled distance : 409 miles
Started the day at around 10 in the morning and reached the destination at around 7 in the evening.

Every day we were staying in good hotels which were serving breakfast in the morning, and everyday we were starting the journey at 10 in the morning after having heavy breakfast and some good amount of caffeine. In Texas the speed limit was 75mph and I was driving at 80s, I was followed by a cop for almost a mile and was pulled over. The cop asked me to get out of car which was again a strange thing, asked me to empty pockets and started asking questions on road. Then he asked me to get into his car. I was kind of anxious about the situation and was totally not sure what was going on. I was in passenger seat and the cop questioned me for almost 15-20 minutes about all my whereabouts, where I was staying, what I had in my trunk, where I was headed, who was the passenger in the car, do I have laptop, what do I do for living etc etc. This was the first time I was in a cop's ford car which was in a way fascinating. I was given just a warning for speeding which mentioned I was at 95mph, I wasn't aware I was driving at that speed. Fortunately it was just a warning and not a ticket.

Overall the entire trip was an amazing experience and one thing off my bucket list.
