Crazy Movie-Marathon
If someone asks, ‘what is the one thing you have done which
you will probably never do?’ I would say this. Yesterday (2/24/2018) I watched
4 movies back to back in theatre. If I think I would be shocked myself. Fuck me
what the hell was that, 4 movies I mean seriously??? Yes, I watched it and to
add more I watched all 4 movies sitting in 2nd row from the screen
in the same hall, same place.
Now Oscar fever is going on everywhere and AMC theatres are
playing Oscar nominated movies back to back on 2 consecutive Saturdays. First Saturday
4 movies would be played, and second Saturday 5 remaining movies would be
played. We just have to buy a day pass and watch all the movies played on that
day.
Yesterday they played ‘Phantom Thread’ at 10:30 AM, ‘Lady
Bird’ 1:00 PM, ‘Three billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri’ at 3:00 PM and ‘The
shape of water’ at 6:00 PM. AMC must have spent some time choosing the order of
the movies I would say. First movie’s genre was Drama/Romance, second was
comedy/drama, third was crime/drama and fourth was Adventure/Fantasy/Drama. It
was so well sequenced that the audience were never bored or saturated.
Although the first movie was pure drama movie and I am not a
big fan of drama, I dozed off for couple of minutes. That was the moment I
thought I would not be able to spend entire day in a theatre watching movies
sitting in second row. There were multiple production issues going on in office
also simultaneously. I was getting calls and I had taken my laptop also there and
kept it in the trunk just in case. Mentally I had decided I would not watch the
last movie and head back home. But after the 3rd movie we got a
break of around 70 minutes, so we headed out, ate something in Panda Express
and drank a nice chai tea latte in Starbucks and returned. It was a much-needed
break to stretch my legs a bit. Fortunately, I did not get headache after
completing the marathon.
All 4 movies were good however I liked the third one when
compared to others. The lead actor, Frances McDormand has done a wonderful
acting in this movie playing a very strong/rough lady. The movie is about challenging
the authority’s capability in solving her daughter’s murder case. I felt the
movie was ended abruptly and inconclusively. May be to make a point that these
kind of incident goes on and on and remains unsolved. The
acting/direction/screenplay every aspect of this movie was amazing and well
done. Other 3 movies were also good but the genre was pure drama.
Anyways yesterday was a totally different day from a normal Saturday
for me. Probably this crazy movie marathon would not happen again.
