Brazilian Visa for Indian passport holders

Getting Brazilian visa for Indians is very simple and straight forward. It is just a 2 steps process, fill the application and visit the Brazilian embassy to submit documents and passport. The entire process will take approximately 4-5 business days. The passport will be returned to the specified address or back to the embassy based on what is opted for. Below are the basic steps with more details

1.      Fill the application
a.      Visit local Brazilian embassy website. In my case it was San Francisco embassy (http://saofrancisco.itamaraty.gov.br/en-us/)
b.      Select Visas, and under the visas page click on the link which takes to visa application page (https://formulario-mre.serpro.gov.br/)
c.      On top right of the page select the preferred language, in my case it was English.
d.      There will be three options, Passport, visa, e-Visa. Click on Visa
e.      A new page would be opened with some instructions. On bottom right of the page there will be an option to start a new application. Click on the same.
f.       The application is a 5 page form. But it asks for very basic information and is straight forward.
g.      In one of the pages, the applicant must upload the passport copy, license copy, itinerary, air tickets, hotel reservation details etc. This is critical because there is no other place where we can upload documents.
h.      Once the application if filled the next step is to take an appointment.
2.      Taking appointment
a.      First step is to take an appointment. Visit (https://saofrancisco.setmore.com/bookappointment) and click on ‘Visa Individual’.
b.      The slots would be available on pretty much every day. In my case I chose the earliest available slot.
c.      Once the slot is selected, the applicant must enter basic information which includes the application number. This should be the same application number which was filled in step 1.
d.      Once the appointment has been taken an automated email will be received. The subject says “Appointment scheduled on with Visa Individual 1” and will be triggered from “Consulado-Geral do Brasil em São Francisco”.
3.      Visiting Embassy
a.      On the day of interview the applicant has to carry a print out of the email confirmation
b.      The applicant has to take following documents, passport, email confirmation, visa fee, pre-paid return envelope, itinerary documents, hotel reservation, return tickets.
c.      For Visa-fee, the applicant must take a money order payable to the consulate General of Brazil. All the detailed information is present in below link (http://saofrancisco.itamaraty.gov.br/en-us/visa_mandatory_instructions.xml).
d.      At the embassy there will be a receptionist who takes the email confirmation and issues a token.
e.      The applicant must wait for the turn to talk to another representative.
f.       The representative asks basic questions like the purpose of visit, intended date of travel and intended number of days planning to stay etc. The entire process should not take more than 15-20 minutes.
g.      As part of documents submission the applicant can submit a pre-paid return envelop addressing the recipient address. This is a very good option. The stamped passport will be mailed to the home address, so applicant need not go anywhere to collect the passport.
h.      The passport will be mailed within 3 days. In my case I submitted the documents on Monday and I got my passport back with Brazilian visa on Wednesday.

Overall process is very simple and straight forward. In embassy also people were very friendly and helpful.
