Face Painting

Last Friday (31st Aug. 2012) we had face painting competition in our office and I was one of the guy who got painted. It was on 28th august 2012 I got a call from Shreya asking whether I would be interested in getting my face painted. I agreed and she was the one who was painting my face. She asked whether anyone else would also be interested as one of her friend was also looking for volunteers. I gave Mahesh's number but may be her friend found some other person. Now since I had agreed we had to decide which painting has to be done on my face. We googled and decided on one painting.
On Thursday we actually met and she suggested me to have my beards shaved and side locks shortened. Now that came as a surprise for me although she was correct I had never thought all these things. She also told me to wear something dark. I realized the fact that she was taking that competition seriously. On Friday I cleanly shaved my face and wore red t shirt. The competition was supposed to get started at 15:00 but actually started at 15:30. The organizers gave the paints and 3 different sizes brushes to all the painters. They dint give anything to the ones who were getting painted. Shreya started with border with black color and then continued with green.
She actually completed the painting within 30 min and gave all the finishing touches for another 15 min. Later we decided to stop fine tuning it. That day I was like one of the celebrity many were taking pic. I still doubt whether they were taking my pic or they were taking Shreya’s pic in my name. The paint was completely dried and I could not open my mouth big or smile normally. It was holding my face together. If I had laughed or opened my mouth big then the paint on my face would have cracked and looked bad. That was one of the strange experience I had. Many were taking pic and I was not supposed to smile at them instead I should open my eyes big. The final paint on my face came good.
After the competition and all the photo session we were waiting for the judge's decision. Judges took really long time to decide the winner. In addition to face painting there were 2 more competitions and there were no separate judges. This increased the time taken by judges to decide the winner for each competition. Finally one of the organizers told us to go ahead and wash our faces and all of us ran towards the wash basin. I washed my face thrice to completely clean off the paint. I was getting late for my train also. After few more minutes later judges decided the winners. We were expecting to get the prize based on the public opinion but unfortunately we did not win. The first prize went to some abstract painting which was hard to understand the inner meaning. I think whatever we do not understand we call them abstract art. I was little disappointed and since I was already late I left office. But the experience I had was very good. That was the first time for me to get painted and that was also the first time for Shreya doing painting on face.
