Dudhsagar Rain Trek
We had been to Dudhsagar last weekend (1st and 2nd Sept. 2012). It was arranged by BASC and it was Pallavi who forced me to join and it was me who forced Jeda to join us. This trek was planned some 2 months back and I had not registered it before. Pallavi called me on Friday morning (31st Aug.) and told some guy had dropped out and I can replace that guy. Although initially I rejected I agreed later with Jeda also included. Finally I came to know some basic details of the plan, like when and where to meet, when we coming back and stuff are like that. On Friday we had gone to railway station in Jeda's bike. He picked me up from Udupi garden petrol bunk and we went to yeshwantpur railway station at around 21:10. Train was scheduled to depart at 21:30. Train left from yeshwantpur and we got our respective seats. We reached Londa junction at around 9 in the morning and one strange thing was people were selling vadapav in trains. Here Vadapav is considered as an evening snack but in north Karnataka and Maharashtra it is considered as breakfast, lunch and dinner. We got down at castle Rock and everyone put on their ponchos and rain coats. Jeda was looking like an astronaut. We started our trek from castle rock at around 11 in the morning and just after few meters it started raining. That was the beginning of our rain trek. There were many tunnels which were of 100mt - 200 mt in length and torches were mandatory to cross them. We reached Dudhsagar at around 2 in the afternoon and reserved a place for tent and all.
At around 7 we started cooking Upma and it was very tasty. Not sure whether it is because of our tiredness or whether the upma was very good indeed. After eating upma, I, Jeda, ashwin and suresh went for a walk in the night. In the next day we started again at around 8 in the morning towards kulem. This path included walking along railway path, along jeep route also. The distance between Dudhsagar and Kulem was around 10 km. We found a small falls which is around 2 km before Kulem. We played in water for 2 hrs. and again started towards Kulem in wet clothes only as we were sure we will be drenched again. We reached Kulem at around 3 in the afternoon and that was the last trek point. From Kulem there was a train to Londa at 4 35. We had some time there in Kulem and we ate chapatis there. We boarded Nizamuddin express at 4 30 and in train we played MAD game (Mafia, Angel, Doctor). This was the game which we learnt in this trek. I must tell this is very interesting and addictive also. We reached Londa junction at 18:20 and the rani Chennamma train was supposed to depart from Londa at 20:30. We had 2 hrs. and we ate some bajjis and other chats. That was my dinner for the night. In Train we again played MAD game and slept at around 23:00. We reached yeshwantpur at 8 in the morning and Jeda had parked bike. We went to Jeda's room and kept his bag and sleeping mat. After that he again dropped me till Udupi garden petrol bunk.
