Barfi – My Take

Yesterday we had been to a bollywood movie titled ‘Barfi’. Before writing anything further on this movie I want to make one thing clear. I watch movie to get entertained. I want my mind to be relaxed when I watch any movie. Movies are meant to be stress busters for me. Having said that I can say ‘Barfi’ is not a movie to be watched when you are stressed out in work. Watching this movie is like going to a museum; although we appreciate so many things there we will not be entertained. We went to this movie when I was totally exhausted with work and wanted something to relax my mind. Barfi is basically an art kind of movie in which Hero is deaf and dumb, one heroine is mentally retarded and another heroin is just a spectator who just leads the life as her mom says. Ranbir Kapoor has acted well as a deaf and dumb guy. Priyanka Chopra is mentally challenged girl who eventually falls in the hands of Barfi. Ileana is a girl who loves Barfi but could not marry her as her mom brain washes her. After marriage also Shruthi (Ileana) will be in love with Barfi but Barfi falls in love with Priyanka chopra. There is an interesting point to note here, in this movie Ileana’s mother tells that she was also in love with some guy before marriage and later accepts that she loves that guy even after so many years of marriage. I was really not convinced with this part of the movie. No mother will tell her daughter that she doesn’t love her dad but some other guy whom she loved before marriage. Ileana leaves her husband to live with Barfi but that was too late for Barfi to accept her. Barfi, by that time had fallen for Priyanka chopra. So Ileana leads the life of a dumb spectator. At the end both Priyanka chopra and Ranbir Kapoor dies together. The acting of Ileana is not so effective and the looks of Ileana are completely different in this movie. If Ileana is the reason to go to this movie then also this movie can be avoided. Ileana has played a role of a house wife and not of a glamorous girl. This movie doesn’t contain any action or good punching dialogues; this movie is totally about emotions. I did not like any songs apart from one song, so there is nothing which attracts us to this movie. I really appreciate the hard work the actors and directors have put in the movie but again this movie is not an entertainer. I would say we can watch this movie in our free time and when our mind is totally relaxed.

Love/Arranged Marriages

Few days back I was discussing about marriages in India and the discussion was mainly on whether to get married to a person whom we find ourselves or to a person whom our parents find. In both the cases we have to compromise on many things and in both the case after compromise also we are not assured that the partner is right for us. In arranged marriage, we will marry a person whom our parents decide. Our parents chooses a person on various criteria like his/her family, his/her current job, his/her current salary, his/her economic condition, his/her horoscope and all non-sense stuff which really doesn’t matter. These things do matter but according to me the only thing a person should look in his partner are his/her thinking patterns. Parents give much more importance to the family, and in this case i am totally against to their thinking. Crazy Movie-Marathon

If someone asks, ‘what is the one thing you have done which you will probably never do?’ I would say this. Yesterday (2/24/2018) I watched 4 movies back to back in theatre. If I think I would be shocked myself. Fuck me what the hell was that, 4 movies I mean seriously??? Yes, I watched it and to add more I watched all 4 movies sitting in 2 nd row from the screen in the same hall, same place. Now Oscar fever is going on everywhere and AMC theatres are playing Oscar nominated movies back to back on 2 consecutive Saturdays. First Saturday 4 movies would be played, and second Saturday 5 remaining movies would be played. We just have to buy a day pass and watch all the movies played on that day. Yesterday they played ‘Phantom Thread’ at 10:30 AM, ‘Lady Bird’ 1:00 PM, ‘Three billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri’ at 3:00 PM and ‘The shape of water’ at 6:00 PM.
