Aashayein foundation NGO activity
On last Saturday, there was a NGO activity conducted by Aashayein foundation and I was also a part of it. It was a sports day activity for 4 government schools. So these guys had blocked MCC grounds from morning 10 till evening and took all the 4 school students there. We were some 15-16 guys from Sapient as volunteers. We volunteered because it was compulsory. When all the school students gathered in MCC grounds, we served them breakfast initially and explained the rules of various games like 4*100 relay, shot-put, long jump etc. We tool the names of the students who were interested in participating in any of the game. After these preliminary steps we started conducting the sports activities. We started with 100 m running race, 200m running, 100 m, sack race, lemon and spoon, long jump, shot-put and lastly 4*100 relay. The students were very excited and were very happy also. These students are economically week and were not having shoes to week but they were physically very strong. I still remember in high school when i was at the age of these students I came first in long jump, 100m and came 3rd in 200m. But on Saturday i was not able to jump very long. Also i was not able to jump properly. Have I become unfit? I asked this question many times looking at the children. They were of class 5th to 8th. They could jump easily and they could participate immediately in some other game. Anyway after all the competition there was a prize distribution ceremony and students were awarded with a medal and certificate. After this ceremony there was a 4*100 m relay competition between sapient volunteers and Aashayein foundation guys. I ran for 100m easily and I ran quickly. But still this thing did not made me happy as I could not jump longer distance. Now also, after 5 days I am feeling sad that I could not jump longer distance. I threw shot-put and I was ok with that, I ran 100m and I was ok with that too, but in long jump I was not up to my own expectation. Is this because I have become unfit or old or just needed warm-up that day? I am not sure and for some reasons we cannot find answers.
