Xperia X10 mini Pro

Recently I bought Xperia X10 mini pro. It was released in June 2010 and got some good reviews in the initial stages. But very soon people started facing lot of issues with this phone and reviews were coming bad. When I bought this phone the only negative point I had read was that the display is doing injustice to the Android platform and that was not a big deal I thought. I did not notice that this phone is having Android 1.6 version and not 2.1 version. The problem started as soon as I entered my home and start exploring. First problem I faced was that the applications (gtalk, gmail, twitter, facebook, skype) which require net access was not getting the gprs connection but in browser I was able to browse internet. I was not able to figure out what happening. Through browser I was able to browse internet successfully and I was totally confused. For 2 days I tried to figure out the problem and finally in some Android forum I got to know that all the applications will run only if we have Vodafone Mobile Connect settings and not Vodafone Live. Ok fine I was bit relieved and decided to go for VMC, there was another shocker waiting for me. To access VMC we must pay a rental of 198 and this excludes browsing charges. The browsing charges are 5p/10kb. Anyway I had already spent 16.5k just to get the feel of Android application especially Android Market, so I decided to have VMC settings for a month at least for my satisfaction. Now everything was fine and I was also happy with all the applications. Gradually lots and lots of issues started coming. Main issue was the cell became very slow after I installed a few applications which forced me to uninstall some apps. I was pissed off at this point and started going through official sites to know about common problems. I came to know that there was no android 2.1 upgrade available for this phone, but in market already Android 2.2 was released at that stage. The phone has 5mp camera and it is just for namesake I would tell. I remember seeing a chine phone with 8mp cam available for 3k or 4k. The camera of this phone can be compared to those phones’s camera. It is having LED flash which is also of no use, the problem is even if there is a slightest shake, and the pic will be distorted. So better to stop using flash I thought. The videos recorded will be in 3gp format and not mp4 format. Next comes touch screen part. While the phone is getting charged the sensitivity of touch screen behaves weirdly. I had pattern unlock mechanism activated and while charging I was unable to draw the pattern to unlock it. Hence I switched back to normal unlock mechanism which made the pattern unlock feature utter waste. Next big thing is the auto-activation of mute option while on call. Mute and unmute options are provided which is a very good feature. But the problem is the mute option will be automatically enabled and even if we keep on talking the other person will be hearing nothing. So if we are supposed to check the status of this option regularly while on call. One more thing is automatically silent mode will be activated and not even vibrates if a call comes. This is very irritating at times. We usually lock the phone and keep it in our pocket and if it automatically activates silent mode how the hell can we get the call or msg notification. As far as messaging is concerned I have not faced many issues. And voice clarity is also good. Over all I would say this is my biggest mistake choosing a cell phone.
