Visit to Chitradurga

On 18th of this month we had been to Chitradurga. We went on Jeda's bike (Honda Shine). We had gone to the fort, watched a wind mill from close distance and then returned back.

I was sleeping when I got a call from Jeda, he told the plan of going out somewhere. I agreed and later decided to go to Chitradurga. It is 132 km from Tumkur and I thought we can reach within 2 hrs thinking our average speed will be around 65km. We left Tumkur by 10 in the morning; the weather was well suited for bike ride. The road is very good and it is a national highway. We reached Chitradurga by 13:00 and called Hari thinking he would have gone to his native on that weekend. But unfortunately he stayed back in Mysore only that weekend. We asked for a good hotel there to have our lunch and he suggested some hotel called Aishwarya Fort. We had our lunch there and headed towards the main fort deciding to come down by 16:00. The fort is huge in area and once we enter the fort there are lot of places inside fort only to visit like obbavana kindi, akka tangi honda etc. (I remember only these two). Initially we went towards obbavana kindi as that place is what we have heard the most in that fort. There were so many school children who were going and coming in the kindi that we had to wait nearly 35-40 min to go inside some rocks and come from the Kindi. This Kindi is nothing but a small hole between rocks. Just to watch this small hole we wasted around 45 min when we had kept 2 hrs for the entire fort itself. I was totally dissatisfied with the hole as I had thought like we had to go inside rocks for a long distance then we have to come out of this kindi in the other end. I had different imagination. Now we had already wasted 45 min and left with 1hr 15 min to come out of the fort. My slipper also got cut and it was difficult to walk only. We somehow climbed some 2 peaks and concluded that the remaining peaks will be similar to these 2 only. We somehow managed to leave Chitradurga by 17:00. On the way back to Tumkur there were lot of wind mills and we decided to watch one wind mill from a closer distance. We parked the bike near some temple and climbed on small peak where the Wind mill was located. The wind mill was very huge and watching wind mill was more fascinating than watching obbava's Kindi. From that wind mill we left to Tumkur. In the mid way we stopped for tea twice. Finally we managed to reach Tumkur by around 20:00.

Overall the experience was very good since I had never seen a Wind mill from that close distance. Going on bike for around 280km is another good experience.
