First year Anniversary

10th of November 2008 was the date of joining given to us and we entered the Infosys campus on 9th itself. At 10 30 I entered the campus with my parents and my brother was not allowed to accompany us inside the campus. We were asked to show the offer letter to the security guard at the gate and after confirming the gave us a card with some number on it. Mine was 279. I do not know what it meant actually. Later there was a long queue for all the formalities. Parents were allowed only till the food court but the employees were supposed to go to the reception to fill a form and get the room keys. My parents were waiting at the food court and I went to reception and got the keys. My room number was 626 and it was in 79th block. I took a head bath in the room and went back to food court and my parents went back to my relative’s house. The campus was very huge I found it difficult in the initial stages to go to food court and all but after a couple of days everything became familiar. We were so excited in the first week about the campus but that excitement dint really last long as we became so busy in the training. Training was like hell. I was from instrumentation technology background and was not aware of many of the concepts. In the initial few modules I dint feel the pressure but later on I was getting the heat. Thankfully I dint flunk in any of the module. Comp Science students really enjoyed in the generic training stage. After that our generic compre was announced and I got 84% in that. So one part of the training got over thankfully. Next came the stream. I was put into mainframes. The only stream I did not want to get into but as per murphy’s laws there was huge probability that I would get the same stream and it worked well also. Mainframes was new to everyone so all of us suffered equally. It had become like routine that we go to office at 9 then till 5 we will be having the training after that go to FC, eat veg roll, then go to room, freshen up yourself then go back to office and study. Finally mainframes compre was announced and everybody was tensed. First there will be handson session where they will give a program and we have to write the code and execute it. It dint go well for me. I was expecting around 37(ideally) in that handson out of 50. Day after that was our compre exam where we have to answer 60 questions which are all optional. We would get the result immediately. I scored 59 in that. That put me in a critical position for me. I needed to score 36 in handson at any cost to make the overall score as 65. I was on the border. Even before the results were announced I had started preparing for re-compre but thankfully I cleared compre and my overall score was 67. Then we were told that we have to undergo one more stream which was considered as extended stream and if cleared then one of our certifications would get over. There was no exit policy in that stream. I was not at all studying. And somehow I managed to score more than 80 in compre. That ended our 6 months of hectic training. In one word if I am supposed to summarize the training then I would say it is like a hell
