Today in India getting a government job is like a dream come true for almost all. Reason behind that is not to contribute something positive to the country but to make sure that they will be paid monthly irrespective of whether they work or not. In India as far as I know once if a person gets a government job it will be there with him till his last breath or till he retires. Even in case of any death the dependents will get job opportunities. This much of security in job makes any person to lose interest in doing his job properly. In government organization a person’s voice is never heard unless he is wealthy or influential. Hence nobody concentrates on doing their job properly anyway nobody will ask them about what they are doing. Government is meant to work for the people and because of the present condition the ultimate sufferers are the common people. In any private company if a guy doesn’t work he won’t be having his job next moment. Almost all employees in any private organization is working properly just because of the fear of losing their jobs. Hence their quality of work will increase dramatically. Today people never go for government services if there are any alternate private services. A lay man will prefer to take airtel sim or Vodafone sim instead of BSNL; he will prefer to open an account in Axis bank or ICICI bank instead of opening an account in State bank; he will prefer using ‘The Professional Couriers’ or ‘Blue Dart’ instead of ‘Speed Post’. This reduces the income to the government and helps the private player to grow further. In India almost all private players competing with government are basically from a foreign land. That means even a common guy is also one of the reasons for the government to deteriorate. There are lots of resources available with government, if at all the resources are used properly India will get its ‘developed country’ tag within 4-5 years. The only solution for these problems is to keep all government jobs under fire always. If the job is under fire the person will work twice than what he can. We have practically seen this during the time of recession now. This condition if it has to be satisfied then the whole system has to be privatized.
