Crazy Trip to Vegas

It was 23rd Dec and I had 4 days off starting next day, I wasn’t having any plans as to what I am going to do or where am I going to go.  I had one crazy idea of writing a program that accepts one zip code and lists all the zip codes within specified radius.  My house’s zip code was 95035 and I was ready to go for 500 miles one way. So I gave 500 as the radius. I wrote the program and optimized it a little bit that actually pulls the city that has more than 3 zip codes, basically I wanted to go to a place that has some hotels also to stay. When executed that program I got a place called Bakersfield. This place was around 250 miles from my place. So finally I had a starting point, Bakersfield was not the destination for next 4 days, but it was a starting point. I had thought I would stay in Bakersfield for a day and head towards San Diego and come back. It was late evening and I decided I would leave early morning on 24th, somehow couldn’t wake up on time. Finally I left house at around 10:00 in the morning.

I had packed some food, fruits, and I had water bottles. I started heading towards Bakersfield, it was a long drive and I was giving break every 30-40 min and I was stepping out of car just to stretch my body. It was very cold and windy outside.

Few miles in the route were in between mountains, since the temperature was almost at the freezing point the upper half of the mountains were covered with snow. It was looking very beautiful as if it is multi colored.

On the way to Bakersfield because of the nature and weather my energy level increased and I started questioning myself. Why should I really go to San Diego? Am I curious to explore new place? The answer was no. So I decided ‘what the hell, let me head to Vegas’. It was on my way to Bakersfield I decided I would go to Vegas.
Now my immediate next task was to book a hotel. I stopped in a gas station, took a break, had coffee and called ‘Palms Casino and Resort’ for a room. Fortunately they had a room available and I immediately booked it till Saturday.

Vegas is a place where people forget themselves. Now I had a destination, I started driving without taking breaks, as Vegas was calling me badly. Finally I reached Vegas at around 20:30 in the night and checked into the hotel. I slept for an hour or so and went downstairs to Casino at around mid night.

I had few friends there who were also on vacation. So I had company. The next day
we all met at Bellagio for Brunch, we stood in line at around 12:15 for the Brunch buffet. The line was so big that we had to wait for 4 hours to get in, We finally went inside the restaurant at around 4:20 which was considered as early dinner, the menu had changed from Brunch to Lunch to Dinner.

In Vegas, I saw Bellagio Fountain show, which was very good.

Stratosphere is one of the main attractions in Vegas where there are some thrilling rides in 110th floor

Vegas is very beautiful in night with lots of lights all around. Harley Davidson showroom is one of my favorite spot. It has a big bike model that is created as if it is breaking the wall and coming out.

MGM is the place where I lost most of my money in its Casino, one of the major attractions in the Vegas Strip

In Vegas Strip there is a Hotel and Casino called 'Newyork Newyork' where they have created a miniature of Statue of Liberty.
Similarly there are many miniatures like Egyptian pyramids, Eiffel Tower, Colosseum etc.

On Saturday evening I decided to head back, and I left Vegas at around 7 in the evening, It was very cold and windy, initially I thought I would reach some point and check in some hotel and rest for the night. While coming I gave few breaks and drank couple of Red bulls, it killed my sleep and I decided to drive back completely. In the mid way the temperature dropped below freezing point

I was exhausted and finally I reached home at around 4:30 in the morning. This trip was the craziest trip I ever had. First of all it was unplanned, I drove alone for more than 21 hours in span of 3 days, covered around 1050 miles round trip which was like almost like driving from Bangalore to Mumbai and return to Bangalore, Drove in rain, sun and little snow also.  The most memorable trip in my life I would tag it as.
